Nativity and the Seven Dwarfs

As I mentioned earlier, we're living in a camper trailer in my parent's yard while our house is being built. I'm also helping my mom sort through her 44 years of 'stuff' in her house. Which actually translates to 144 years of 'stuff' because they have EVERYTHING from our family since the late 1800's.

Also, mom...bless her heart...has enough fabric to clothe every single child in a small country. I haven't even started on the crafts. This is rather twisted but my favorite box was a one that was labeled "Nativity and Seven Dwarfs". I was just picturing Grumpy at the manger...all mad that he had to sit out there in the cold and give perfume to a little baby.

This may not be funny to anyone else but if I don't laugh, I will surely cry!!

Camping in November

At the urging of my friend Mary, I thought I'd like to share some thoughts on camping/living in a camper trailer in November....
1) Don't.
2) Really don't.
3) If you ignore 1-2, try camping out in a trailer larger than a 28' (especially if you have a 2 year old). Even if you've convinced yourself that your newly constructed home will soon be liveable, 28' gets smaller more quickly than you realize.
4) If you 'live' in a camp trailer in winter, don't tell any of your friends who regulary use sarcasm as a way to cope with life's trying situations. Otherwise, you may hear a thousand or so Redneck jokes about being trailer trash.

No, really...'shout out' to Mary who has listened to me whine about living in a camp trailer. She really is a true friend to laugh with me and at me. Everyone should have a friend who can help you cope with your frustrations by making you laugh!!

More trailer trash, Redneck stories to come. As Mary said, I have enough material here to write a REALLY good book!!

poopie

The other day we laid Myah down for her afternoon nap. I could hear her in there playing but thought I'd give her a few minutes to fall asleep. Finally, I told Clay, "You better check on her". He said to me, "oh, wait a few more minutes."
Finally he went in there. I heard a laugh and a pause -- then I heard, "Melanie, come here...".
I went in to Myah's room and saw her in her crib with no diaper on. She had thrown it on the floor (it was clean). Then, I looked in her crib and saw poop. Not just a little. It was on her toes, her hands, in the bedding, everywhere...
All I could do was laugh! I think this is our sign that she's ready to potty train!

Diversity

Tonight we were in the grocery store and saw a bulletin board with posters created by local grade-schoolers. Apparently, the theme was "Diversity". One little guy (obviously the class bully) had a poster that said the following,
"Don't judge someone by their age, judge them by their ability."
Doesn't that make you flash back to the grade school playground?

"HOTTIE"

This morning, Myah was standing in front of a full-length mirror in our hallway...admiring herself. All the sudden she said, "ot" (her word for "hot") and smiled at herself. Clay and I giggled and then she looked again and said "ott-ie".
Who's daughter is she, anyway?!!

Watch what you say!

I was joking with Clay a few nights ago and told him that I'll have to quit calling him names because Myah repeats everything we say. He said, "I KNOW! and then Myah said, "I KNOW!". Oh, wow, she really is repeating everything! The fun has just begun!

Myah's Pneumonia--Jan 08

WOW...pneumonia...nothing like sleeping in an oxygen tent in a toddler-sized bed to make you feel all snuggly! It was like sleeping in a rainforest. But Myah was a trooper. She looked like she was in jail! Poor thing! To top it off, we had a nurse come in the room in the middle of the night, flip on all the lights and say (in a BOOMING voice), "I need to give her the breathing treatment now!" (ok, now the entire hospital was awake...all 10 other patients). I quitely tried to tell her that Myah was asleep (they can do the breathing treatment while the child is asleep). She again said in an even louder voice, "OH, LOOK, SHE'S AWAKE!!" As steam rolled out my ears, I was thinking, "Ah, yes, thank you for your incredible bed-side manner!!" Myah handled the entire situation much better than her mother did. It's been a few weeks since she's been out of the hospital. I'm so thankful she's feeling better. The hospital was not so fun!

Friday Night at Sportys

Tonight some of our friends were hosting a 16th birthday party/dance for their daughter at the Civic Center in Chewelah (They also have 6 other children including Zachary, who is almost 2). We were were all dancing the night away when we noticed Zachary was missing. All 50 of us were searching in and around the building for him...no Zachary. Finally, some of the kids took off running a few blocks away where they found Zachary. Yes, this 2-year-old ditched our alcohol-free party and was found safely at the local bar (Sportys).
